Breast Augmentation

In our transgender patients, we use implants to create a female breast, complimenting the facial feminization. Breast augmentation with implants helps to enhance the results already achieved by hormonal treatment.

Procedure

Breast augmentation is performed through a small incision, either in the fold under the breast, the axilla or the nipple. The operation takes 1-1.5 hrs and can be performed in conjunction with other procedures.

Possible risks of any breast augmentation include infection, post-operative bleeding and capsular contraction. You will be informed of all possible risks or side effects during an extensive consultation, where the surgeon assess your case individually.

Body contouring

To enhance of overall feminisation effect, additional body contouring can be very effective. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), and/or suction assisted lipectomy (Liposuction, Liposculpturing) will greatly change the body contour. The incision and resulting scar of an abdominoplasty is placed low on the abdomen, just above the pubic hairline.

By narrowing of the abdominal muscles towards the midline (muscle plication) during an abdominoplasty, the abdominal shape can be significantly improved towards a more feminine contour; also the waist line can be reduced.

While a more feminine aspect of the abdomen/waist area can almost always be achieved, the overall results will greatly be affected by one's overall size and total body weight (obesity).

Procedure Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

The tummy tuck procedure can be done under general, regional, or twilight anesthesia, depending on individual patient preference and needs.

The first step is to cut the skin between the belly button and top of pubic hair. The belly button stays in place. The muscles are then tightened from the pubic bone to the ribs.

The surgeon will make a cut in the fold under the belly. This is the "bikini line." Skin is also cut around the belly button. A large area of fat and skin are then pulled away from the muscle.

By narrowing of the abdominal muscles towards the midline (muscle plication), the abdominal shape can be significantly improved towards a more feminine contour; also the waist line can be reduced.

The surgeon tightens the abdominal muscles in the belly.

The skin above the belly button is then stretched down to the pubic area. Extra skin and fat are trimmed away. Finally, the belly button is brought out thru the overlying skin to occupy its original position. will then be closed with stitches. Finally all incisions are closed with stitches.

The skin is then stretched downward. Extra skin and fat are trimmed away. A new hole will be cut for the belly button. The opening will then be closed with stitches.
